A comprehensive design for a waterfront home and its interiors

DL House | This single-family home, designed in the style of a modern barn, is a custom project that seamlessly integrates architecture, interior design, and landscaping into a cohesive whole. The building is situated on a lot surrounded by mature oak trees.

The elongated structure, reminiscent of the archetype of a through barn, runs along the northern boundary of the lot, creating a barrier between the busy residential street and neighboring buildings on one side and the private garden on the other. The building is set on a foundation slab that extends beyond its edge—part of the house hovers above the water’s surface.

The main entrance is located in a colonnade that runs across the building, creating a passageway connecting the front of the lot with the garden. This space serves as a symbolic transition between the public and private spheres, gradually introducing visitors from the street to the intimate atmosphere of the garden.

The building was constructed as a prefabricated glued-laminated timber structure, which ensured high precision in construction and efficient project completion. The façade was finished with Thermory thermally modified wood planks, whose natural texture and warm color emphasize the simplicity of the architectural form.

The central space of the house is a double-height living room with skylights, whose large windows offer a view of the water. The interior is organized around a traditional fireplace, which serves as the natural center of home life and completes the linear layout of the rooms. An integral part of the living area is the terrace overlooking the water, which strengthens the connection between the house, the garden, and the pond, creating a private relaxation space in direct contact with the landscape.
