A comprehensive renovation project for a large house and its interiors
House W
2010, Szczecin
House W | The renovation and expansion of a single-family home built in the early 2000s, located in one of Szczecin’s suburban neighborhoods, constituted a comprehensive transformation of the existing architecture—both aesthetically and technically. The goal of the project was to modernize the sprawling building structure, improve its technical efficiency, and adapt the space to the needs of a family of six. The modernization also included the development of a large plot of land with a garden.
The existing house underwent a thorough renovation. The roofing was replaced and the facades were completely redesigned, giving the building a more distinctive and orderly character. One of the key design principles was to distinguish the individual volumes and deliberately highlight them within the architectural composition. As a result, the expansive, horizontal house gained a clearer structure and a contemporary look.
A key feature of the expansion was the addition of spacious, covered terraces that connect the interior to the garden and extend the living area to include semi-outdoor spaces.
The interior of the house has also undergone a complete renovation. The layout has been redesigned to ensure a comfortable living environment for a large family and to create a natural connection between the living areas and the garden.
The design features a limited yet distinctive palette of materials. Dark clinker brick in a traditional format is paired with white exterior plaster, which emphasizes the rhythm of the building’s forms and gives it a timeless, contemporary character.
