A comprehensive architectural and interior design project for a house near the forest
DR House
2012, Dobra
DR House | A single-family home in Dobra near Szczecin, designed for a family of four. The building’s form draws on the archetype of a modern barn—the dark, minimalist core of the structure is juxtaposed with light-colored terraces and a carport, creating a striking tectonic contrast. Large panoramic windows open the interior to the surrounding pine forest.
The functional layout is tailored to the owners’ professional lifestyle—the office area is designed to be completely separate from the private living space. The double-height living room evokes the open spaces of traditional barns and connects to the mezzanine on the upper floor. The kitchen, integrated with the dining room, adjoins a large covered terrace, accessible through large sliding doors that retract into the wall. The ground floor houses the parents’ private bedroom area with a walk-in closet and master bathroom, while the first floor features two large children’s bedrooms with windows framing views of the forest.
The interior features a simple, minimalist design that opens up to the surrounding natural landscape. The floors are finished with light-colored oiled oak planks, the walk-in closet is fully paneled with wood, and the bathrooms are finished with textured stone tiles.
Completed in 2012, the project was conceived as a comprehensive concept encompassing both architecture and interior design.
