Design and supervision of the interior construction of a developer-built home

MG House

2022–2023, Szczecin

MG House | The interiors of this single-family home, located in a suburban town near Szczecin, were designed for a young family with two children. The project by ANNA THUROW Architecture and Interiors included a comprehensive interior design plan, furniture designs, the selection of artwork, and garden landscaping.

The original developer’s layout did not meet the needs of the future residents, so the first phase of the project involved a significant functional reorganization of the ground floor. The former garage was converted into a spacious kitchen, separated from the rest of the space by tall, glass loft doors in a subtle graphite shade. This change freed up the space most important to the residents—the living room, which became the central hub of the household’s shared life.

The living area features a large table and a fireplace, around which the family’s daily activities are centered. Another key element of the interior is the extensive library, which lends these spaces a homey feel and creates a welcoming atmosphere.

The kitchen is centered around a stone island that flows seamlessly into the quick-service dining area. A spacious hallway with storage and a drop-off area leads into the interior, serving as a functional introduction to the home’s living area.

This floor serves as a private area, housing the family’s bedrooms, bathrooms, and a small home office. The bathrooms were designed in a minimalist style, featuring large-format, textured porcelain tiles in a dark, striking color palette.

Throughout the project, special attention was paid to lighting. Striking fixtures by Vibia and more subdued lamps by Wever & Ducré were individually selected for each zone, highlighting the character and function of the various spaces.

Art plays a key role in the design—the interiors are complemented by paintings and prints by Polish artists. The material palette features natural elements: oak floors, stone used on the kitchen island and fireplace, veneered built-in cabinets, and large-format textured porcelain tiles. The whole is complemented by leather elements of the freestanding furnishings, which introduce bold material accents.
