Comprehensive design and renovation of a typical home
KD House
2022–2023, Szczecin
KD House | Interiors of a single-family home in Szczecin, designed as a timeless reinterpretation of the building’s interiors from the early 2000s. The starting point was a precisely defined brief—to give the interiors a timeless character and redefine functions that, over the years, had ceased to meet the owners’ needs, while minimizing interference with the building’s structure as much as possible.
A wooden cube became a key element of the design—a custom-made feature that integrates the entryway closet, a pantry accessible from the kitchen, and a discreetly built-in TV and audio area. Removing the relatively low door lintels around this structure opened up the space and gave it a new rhythm. A spacious, modular corner sofa in the living area allowed for full use of the living room space—enabling the whole family to enjoy the fireplace and TV area at the same time.
The materials were selected based on a minimalist palette and bold, tactile textures. Light, brushed oak veneers were paired with black Nero Assoluto granite on the kitchen countertops. The ground floor features large-format Casalgrande Padana porcelain tiles. The walls are finished with Detale CPH textured plaster, which gives the surfaces a distinct, tactile texture. Lighting—by Flos and Deltalight—was individually selected for each zone.
The design also included custom details created specifically for this project—handles for tall kitchen cabinets and the iconography for the smart home control panel system.
